Single-Antenna-Based GPS Antijamming Method Exploiting Polarization Diversity

The vulnerability of Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers to jammers is a major concern owing the extremely weak received signal power GPS. Researches have been conducted on variety antenna array techniques be used as countermeasures GPS jammers, and their antijamming performance known greater than that single methods. However, application arrays remains limited because size, cost, computational complexity. This study proposes experimentally validates novel space-time-polarization domain adaptive processing for single-element dual-polarized (STPAPS) by focusing polarization diversity antenna. mathematical models arbitrarily polarized signals are derived, an appropriate constraint matrix dual-polarized-antenna-based antijam suggested. To reduce complexity approach, eigenvector design scheme adopted. STPAPS quantitively qualitatively evaluated through experiments follows. 1) carrier-to-noise-density ratio (C/N0) under synthetic jamming demonstrated higher previous minimum mean squared error (MMSE) or variance distortionless response (MVDR) based 2) strengths weaknesses compared with those methods not MMSE MVDR algorithms. 3) characteristics (in terms directions polarizations signals) conventional two-element single-polarized method, which has same degree freedom STPAPS.
